Dale Sorensen Real Estate welcomes sales associate Charnelisse Rivera Torres

Florida Realtor® Charnelisse “Charly” Rivera Torres has joined the highly successful Dale Sorensen Real Estate (DSRE) team of sales professionals.

Rivera Torres is the real-life story of someone making it through tragedy and persevering to realize a dream.

Rivera Torres is originally from Puerto Rico, where she lived in the middle of the island. When Hurricane Maria struck in 2017, her community was devastated, homes and businesses were demolished, bridges needed to be rebuilt and the island was without power for 7 months. Her job as a secretary was gone. She tried finding work through FEMA but with so many looking for work, and not being able to be on the internet to look for jobs, Rivera Torres knew she had to leave her beloved home and family in order to not just make a living, but to find success. She was finally able to find work cleaning hotel rooms with a national company and moved to Tennessee. Wanting to be closer to the water and in warmer weather, Rivera Torres moved to Florida, working in restaurants and convenience stores, until her luck changed and she was hired by the United States Postal Service in Vero Beach.

While enjoying her new job and independence, Rivera Torres still felt the need to do more and be more, to focus on other people. Since she knew what it was like to look for a home, she felt that real estate was the perfect way she could help others. Now, Rivera Torres takes great pride and joy in helping a family find that perfect home. “There’s nothing like the feeling of walking into a home with a family, with kids, and knowing that you’ve helped them find the place where they will put down roots”, Rivera Torres says.

Her patience and perseverance are hard at work for her customers. Her experiences have paved the way for her to transition her skills as a secretary, including marketing, understanding contracts, and negotiating on behalf of her customers, into the real estate arena. Surviving a devastating hurricane coupled with volunteering at women’s shelters and animal rescue facilities have also given her a strong sense of empathy and compassion.

Rivera Torres has a deep appreciation of community and loves her adopted “hometown” of Sebastian. She is anxious to show others relocating to the Indian River County area the many great amenities of living here, including the pristine beaches, shopping, schools, parks and restaurants. She especially loves working with families and helping them to find the resources they need after making a life changing move.

Rivera Torres has also earned an Associate Degrees in Administration and Letters, Arts & Sciences. She is currently working on obtaining her Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice.
